- On or about 02-Jan-96 16:09:30 Frederick V. Heitkamp typed the following words
- about "Re: Best Mail Program for use with SLIP, SMTP, POP, AmiTCP?". My reply
- is thus...
-
-
- FVH> In article <19960102.452F60.CA7@ao059.du.pipex.com>, scampi@sanity.com
- FVH> says...
-
- FVH> I don't care much about BBS's. Maybe the Thor author should split his
- FVH> package into BBS and none BBS versions. Or perhaps make it an install
- FVH> option.
-
- It already is if you would care to check it out. Why don't you at least look
- at Thor before you beleive the rantings of someone who doesn't like it.
-
- If you are on the net to get mail and news then it is probably going to take
- up a lot of your time. You want a program you are comfortable with. Personnaly
- I have tried almost everything out there. I had AmiPOP, SMTPd, SMTPPost,
- NNTPxfer, NNTPPost, NNTPSpool, INetUtils and TIN all up and runing when I
- switched to THOR. Yes, it took all of them to do News and Mail off line, which
- is what *I* prefer. It took a lot of time to get everything up and runing.
- THOR was a snap after that. One thing about the above non-Thor approach is
- that you learn a lot about how the net works.
-
- You owe it to your self to check out everything available and then decide for
- yourself.
